2011 Special Edition - Pirates
New Film - New Pirate Design.
It's been a LONG time coming, but finally on 12th October 2011 Disney has released a new design of Disney Dollars across both of the US parks.
Bills prefixed with 'E' are from Disneyland, CA and bills prefixed with an 'F' and from Walt Disney World, FL
The new design continues the PIRATES theme from 2007 and is another 'special edition'.
It coincides with the release of the new 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4 - On Stranger Tides' movie.
This is a $1 series only, with no corresponding $5 or $10 bills. Disney have again broken from tradition, by NOT using A & D prefix for this set.
(Also there is no 'T' series for sate in Disney stores, as these have also be discontinued in favour of gift cards!)
Unlike the previous 'Pirate' dollars, where a trailing letter of B, F or E signified the pirate ship of the reverse of the bill (Black Pearl, Flying Dutchman & Empress.), this new bill has no trailing letter after the serial number.
The obverse of the bill is very similar to previous 'Pirate' notes, with only the addition on the new film name. The reverse features the ship 'Queen Anne's Revenge'.
Unlike the previous series in 2009 and the pirates in 2007, which all had an 8 digit serial number, this release has only a 6 digit serial number, so it would appear that this will be a small print run. (Previous Pirates were limited to 100,000 for each park, so maybe the same again this year.)
